This is a response to u/sgicruz*'s post:* Best way to receive USD payment into a USD savings account? I created a post since this is a bit long comparison.
If you are transferring large amounts of USD from Paypal (i.e. >USD 2,000 at a time), you are forced by Paypal to withdraw in PHP, since you cannot withdraw USD directly to Philippine-based USD accounts. Instead, you can use the TransferWise Borderless Account. The Borderless Account allows you to hold multiple currencies on the account, and also provides USD US Bank Account details (also GBP, Euro, AUD, NZD) which can receive funds via local ACH (automated clearing house). Paypal can withdraw USD funds via US ACH. (There is a verification step before being assigned bank account details: see footnote at the bottom of my post)*
For comparison, below are three scenarios:

1. Paypal (USD) -> Local PHP Savings Account (PHP)
2. Paypal (USD) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> BDO USD Savings Account (USD)
3. Paypal (USD) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> Local PHP Savings Account (PHP)

Associated fees (sample computation for USD 2,000):

• Paypal withdrawal from USD balance to PHP Bank Account = free for amounts >= 7,000; PHP 50 for amounts <7,000 (flat fee)
• BDO Incoming Paypal PHP Remittance = PHP 200 (flat fee)

Total fees: PHP 200 (for USD 2,000 sample computation)
(Note: if you use GCash, I think total fee is always PHP 0, subject to wallet and transaction limits)
Exchange Rate (sample for May 8, 2020): 1 USD => PHP 48.9414
Net PHP received thru bank: PHP 97,682.70 (BDO) or PHP 97,882.70 (GCash)
Paypal's PHP-USD buy/sell spread is horrendous at around ~3.0-3.5% compared to the mid-market rate. But this is still a valid option if (1) you are withdrawing small amounts, or (2) you need instant access to cash.

Associated fees (sample computation for USD 2,000):

• Paypal withdrawal from USD balance to US Bank Account = USD 35.00 (flat fee)
• TransferWise fee for USD transfer over SWIFT = USD 1.40+3.20 = USD 4.60 (flat fee)
• SWIFT intermediary/correspondent bank fees = USD 15.00 (flat fee, but can vary from 0-60 USD depending on route taken and on int'l bank relationships your local USD bank has)
• BDO Incoming SWIFT Remittance = USD 5.00 (flat fee)

Total fees: 59.60 USD
Net USD received thru bank: USD 1940.40
If your ultimate goal is to get the funds in PHP, we can try exchanging the USD to PHP via BDO
Exchange Rate (sample for May 8, 2020): 1 USD => PHP 50.0000 (BDO USD Buy rates)
Net PHP received thru bank: PHP 97,020.00
There are a lot of fixed fees, so this will only be economical for large amounts of USD (probably >USD 3,000). In addition, BDO's PHP-USD buy/sell spread is around ~0.5-1.0% compared to the mid-market rate.
Paypal withdrawal to US bank account takes around 1-2 banking days, while SWIFT transfers take around 1-5 banking days.

An alternative is to send PHP directly from TransferWise. This is cheaper than Paypal or even the USD route described above. This is because TransferWise's exchange rate uses the mid-market rate, and they have transparent fees. In addition, TransferWise -> Local PHP Savings Account settles in minutes, as opposed to the SWIFT USD transfer above (which can take anywhere from 2-5 banking days).
3. Paypal -> (Withdraw to US Bank Account) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> (Send PHP via ACH [this means Bancnet]) -> Local PHP Savings Account
Associated fees (sample computation for USD 2,000):

• Paypal withdrawal from USD balance to TransferWise US Bank Account = USD 35 (flat fee)
• TransferWise fee for PHP transfer over ACH (Bancnet) = USD 12.01

Total fees: USD 47.01
Net USD for conversion: USD 1952.99
Exchange Rate (sample for May 8, 2020): 1 USD => 50.4800 PHP
Net PHP received thru bank: PHP 98,586.93
Paypal withdrawal to US bank account takes around 1-2 banking days, while TransferWise USD-PHP ACH (Bancnet) settles in minutes.

*To receive your own USD bank account details, you're required to "Add Money" at least GBP 20 or its equivalent (maybe USD 25). This is their verification requirement. I recommend adding money using Visa/Mastercard Debit Card: TransferWise has around 4.5% fees for the Debit Card Add Money option, so it's going to cost around ~PHP 60 in fees. I recommend using CIMB ATM card if you have, since they currently (as of May 8, 2020) do not charge forex conversion fees. If not, any Visa/Mastercard debit card will do (including BDO Visa ATM cards).

TLDR;
For relatively small amounts, withdraw directly from Paypal to PHP bank account. Best choice is Paypal -> GCash (no inward remittance fee).
For larger amounts, withdraw USD from Paypal to TransferWise Borderless Account, then send PHP via ACH (Bancnet) to Philippine PHP Savings account.
But if you want to keep the amount as USD: withdraw USD from Paypal to TransferWise Borderless Account, then send USD via SWIFT to Philippine USD Savings account.

Local bank around 50 PHP something per 1 USD
I just recently found out this video in YouTube. I just want to ask if anyone tried this using their peso account or maybe a dollar account. What bank did you use with it?
I tried following the video and sent a message to the PayPal customer service. After few hours, a representative asked for an account validation to proceed the dollar method request. I haven't tried withdrawing yet so I cant confirmed that it is working. The bank I used here is Union Bank
Just wondering if I have a local dollar account I can withdraw PayPal funds in dollar straight to my dollar account without any conversion.
I've been using PayPal for a long time to receive international payments. As far as I know PayPal automatically converts USD to PHP before it goes to your local bank, which is not good as the rate is super low compare to standard Forex.

It's apparent that two nations have been engaged in a high-stakes military & economy arms race. The current US admin has been hitting China with waves of tariffs, but that was merely a small part of what's actually going on. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
On Oct 11, 2019, when they reached a tentative agreement for the first phase of a trade deal, the fact that China made the concession actually made my jaw drop. From where I sit, it was a worrisome scene. Aren't people saying, when challenging situations are bottled up, they will just grow and mutate into another terrible complications?
Admittedly I was not certain how they are going to adhere to the agreement: It left most of the US tariffs (on China's exports) in place, and at the same time, came with an additional USD $200 Billion burden for China over the next two years. This agreement might seem a bit insignificant, but now China would need to purchase almost twice the size of the US products & services they did before the trade war began.
With their current economic climate? I murmured, "No way."
While watching Trump brag and boast around with said agreement, I expected China would soon come out and fling some improvised excuses in order to delay the document-signing process. It wouldn't be their first time. More importantly, even if China does so, there wouldn't be many (real) counterattack options left for the Trump admin during this year, the US presidential election year.
Then, on Jan 16, 2020, the world’s two largest economies actually signed a partial trade agreement aimed at putting the brakes on an 18-month trade war. China would almost surely not sit down but come back to bite, I thought.
Enter the worldwide chaos following so called the COVID-19 outbreak.

☞ Globalists have been heavily investing in China's economy and its components overseas.
• Here are a couple of well known names: the Great Old One; George Soros; Koos Bekker; and Bill Gates.
• For the sake of convenience, from here on, let's call these globalists, who are foreign investors in China's top tier state-owned/sponsored/controlled enterprises, Team-Z.

⑤ Since their current turf (in China) is education industry & medical science industry, Shanghai clique will have no issue with earning hefty profits by managing China's export of medical equipments & health care products which can be supplied worldwide mainly by China. People in the west will bent the knees for the clique's support.

So ultimately, it just provides the convenience that you don't have to buy USD to invest. The minimum transaction amount is also lower. The exchange risk is there whether you invest in USD or PHP... if you eventually will spend the investment proceeds in PHP. If one can buy and sell USD at better than bank rates, it may be better to invest in USD fund since BPI probably earns a little bit more on the forex spread.
I guess BPI just has to be clearer when stating the performance of the USD class and the PHP class, since the latter also effectively includes the exchange rate performance of USD vs PHP.

2 days ago, Citi Card users were greeted with changes on their agreement effective December 1, 2019. One thing that is glaring to me is the "clarification" on converting transactions charged in foreign currencies:

For transactions in foreign currencies other than US Dollar, the amount will first be converted to US Dollar before being converted to its Philippine Peso equivalent.

I'm certain that before I left the country, I knew their 3.525% fee and there was no mention of converting from other currencies to USD, then to PHP. Whether this was intentionally done to screw their users over or not, this changed my opinion of ever using Citi Cards for Forex Txns, especially that I'm out of the country and rely on cheap exchange rates.
I have another card with BDO, it says that they have a 1%+1.25% FETF. It is not certain though that they directly convert from other currencies to PHP directly, which I will clarify tomorrow. Anecdotally, BDO and Citi has lows and highs with their FETFs, but has ill-explained transparency of the exchange rates.
So what do you guys think of this? Should I dump all my expenses to BDO? or both banks are just as the same and there's no real "cheap" alternatives? Citi is supposed to be a larger bank, but they're charging 3.525% over BDO's 1%+1.25?

If I intend to take up margin loan, is it generally better to borrow EUR and buy an EUR-denominated ETF that is equivalent to the USD-denominated ETF?
Or would low interest rate imply that the currency might weaken over time so the forex loss might be greater than the savings in interest?

From the 17-DEC-2017 high to the 06-FEB-2018 low, the Bitcoin market endured a 70% price collapse from the all-time high of $19,891 to a low of $6,000 in just 51 days (BITFINEX). In Elliott Wave parlance, this first phase crash is a simple but sharp three wave a-b-c zigzag pattern.

The psychological $6,000 price has been guarded since it marks support of the psychological USD$100 billion Bitcoin marketcap. In Elliott Wave parlance, this second phase of market development is a triangle pattern consisting of five a-b-c-d-e waves. The internal structure of the waves within the triangle are related to each other in terms of length as the following Fibonacci ratios:

wave-c = wave-a * 0.618 wave-d = wave-b * 0.786 wave-e = wave-c * 0.786

The triangle phase of the Bitcoin market completed at the 24-JUL-2018 high. Since then, the third phase of market has been underway with an expectation of creating new lows for 2018 at sub $6,000 prices. Initial approx targets have been projected as follows (BITSTAMP):

@5920: Fibonacci 0.618% of wave-d low projected from wave-e high. @5220: Fibonacci 0.786% of wave-d low projected from wave-e high. @4327: Fibonacci 0.100% of wave-d low projected from wave-e high. @4200: Fibonacci 78.6% decline of entire Bitcoin market. 

Any of the aforementioned approx price levels based on Fibonacci projections are potential targets of where the 2018 bear market may conclude.
Should price retrace below the Fibonacci 78.6% of the entire Bitcoin market, i.e. below the psychological $4,000 level; it may suggest the bear market extends into 2019 with an expectation of a 90%-95% decline of the entire Bitcoin market to approx $1,000 by 2020. However, the Bitcoin market has reached an inflection point. The third phase of the bear market appears to have stagnated in price and time. Since 09-SEP-2018, price has traded in a narrow 10% range at an average price of $6,400 for almost 60 days thus far. Volatility is now at a 22-month low and technicals such as moving averages are flat-lining across daily timeframes. This behaviour has been quite unexpected. Since completion of the consolidating triangle phase of the market, volume and volatility was expected to breakout. Speculators and traders have left the stabilised cryptocurrency marketplace in favour of the more volatile global equity bear markets.
An alternative scenario can now be considered: Since completion of the triangle at the 24-JUL-2018 high, the concluding phase of the bear market may have declined and truncated at the 11-OCT-2018 low. If so, a cyclical (i.e. short-term) bull market may be commencing within an overall secular (i.e. long-term) bear market. Such a bull market would be termed as a wave-X as part of a complex ongoing long-term bear market structure.

In some schools of Elliott Wave thought, the wave-X bull market may unfold in five 1-2-3-4-5 impulsive waves; or, as three a-b-c corrective waves considered in other schools of thought. Either way, the size of a wave-X is challenging to predict. Typically, it may retrace either a Fibonacci 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% or 78.6% of the entire 2018 bear market; that is approx $11,081 or $12,720 or $14,360 or $16,705 respectively (BITSTAMP). In some cases, a wave-X may extend to, and even exceed prior all-time highs, like typically seen in commodity and forex markets. The wave-X cyclical bull market could be a swift parabolic move elapsing within 12 months during the course of 2019, and thus the overall secular bear market may still resume to unfold to a low in late 2020.

Bear Market Inflection Points
—A break below the 11-OCT-2018 low of $6,055 would be the first indication to suggest the bear market is still underway.
—A break below the 14-AUG-2018 low of $5,880 would confirm the ongoing bear market.
—A break below $4,000 may suggest an extended bear market leading to a 90%-95% collapse of the entire Bitcoin market by 2020.
Bull Market Inflection Points
—A break above the 15-OCT-2018 high of $6,756 would be the first indication to suggest a bull market may be commencing.
—A break above the 04-SEP-2018 high of $7,412 would likely confirm a bull market is underway.
